The more I learn about our caucus and primary system to select Electors for the party Conventions this coming semester, the more I am convinced that we must move to a direct vote system.
Read these two articles about 'Super Electors'; Governors and members of Congress of the Democratic Party who gave themselves the vote at the 1982 Convention. Barack Obama could win the majority of the voted Electors, (those selected by party primaries and caucuses) and still not get the nomination, since it seems that the majority of the Super Electors favor Hillary Clinton.
There is something just inherently unfair in this.

hey hey hey hey i've linked to G,F & M on Vleeptron! (It took me 3 years to figure out how to put links on the *#$(@#& thing.)
The Good News is that this Superdelegate thing is getting a lot of attention on the better media, like Gwen Eifel's (sp?) Washington Week in Review and the Lehrer News Hour on PBS.
I guess the last time there was a ferociously contested Dem convention was maybe 1968.
Republican conventions always choose their nominee as smoothly as Ex-Lax -- they're much more Pageants of Patriotism and Ronald Reagan than they are nominating conventions. And during the Bush years, they've instituted the Free Speech Zones, so dissent is conveniently relocated down the street 2 miles away.
But when Hillary's Inevitable Entitled Insider Nomination meets the very angry aspirations of African-American voters who smell the first authentic chance of one of their own in the White House ... not to mention all the people who really hate Hillary and are convinced she'd be a disaster as president ... I don't think the Superdelegates will dare to stand in the way of Obama if he comes into the summer convention regularly trouncing Hillary in the primaries.
I'll understand if you don't want to link to VleeptronZ. New faiths, like Flying Spaghetti Monster, always face horrible prejudice and suppression.
No worries, Bob. I'm happy to share your blog on mine. I thought I had, must have edited it off last time I had a major reconstruction.
